Description
As an occupational therapy fieldwork educator, your knowledge, supervision, and direction are critical to the success of your students and to the future of occupational therapy. AOTA is pleased to offer you the opportunity to advance your skills in this important area at the AOTA Fieldwork Educator Certificate Program! In order to obtain the AOTA CE certificate, participants MUST register for and attend all four dates and participate in the duration of each session.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the Role of Fieldwork Educator: Gain a deeper understanding of your responsibilities and impact as a fieldwork educator
- Integrate Learning Theories and Supervision Models: Develop effective strategies to incorporate learning theories and supervision models into your practice
- Enhance Educational Skills: Increase your ability to provide high-quality educational opportunities during fieldwork experiences
- Engage in Interactive Learning: Participate in dialogues and reflections with trainers to deepen your understanding of fieldwork
- Complete Curricular Modules: Engage in four comprehensive modules covering administration, education, supervision, and evaluation
- Analyze Best Practices: Evaluate and analyze strategies to support best practices in fieldwork education

Registration is free, and participants will earn 15 Contact Hours/1.5 AOTA CEUs

Faculty
Sheri Montgomery, EdD, OTR/L, FAOTA
Dr. Sheri Montgomery is an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) from Tufts University–Boston School of Occupational Therapy in 1980. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Montgomery completed her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) at the University of Utah in 2013 and her Doctor of Education (EdD) at the University of West Florida in 2022.
Dr. Montgomery brings over 45 years of clinical experience and 13 years of full-time higher education experience. She previously served as an Academic Fieldwork Educator and core faculty member at the University of St. Augustine, where she contributed to both hybrid and residential MOT and OTD programs. Her responsibilities included course development, student advisement, and service on the Appeals Committee and Faculty Senate. She also served as the program manager for the post-professional OTD (ppOTD) program at Mary Baldwin University, overseeing course development, admissions, marketing, advisement, and instruction
Suny Darcy, OTD, OTR/L
Sanaz “Suny” Darcy, OTD, OTR/L is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department, College of Public Health and Health Professions, University of Florida. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park (2007), her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (2010) from University of St. Augustine and her Clinical Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (2015) from Rocky Mountain University for Health Professionals. Her previous academic appointment was that of Assistant Professor (2017-2022), at the University of St. Augustine. Dr. Darcy has over 10 years of clinical occupational therapy practice including expertise in adult rehabilitation, family and designing interventions for older adults with dementia, and their caregivers and/or family members. Her research interests pertain to Veteran mental health practices, diabetes self-management, and adult rehabilitation post-stroke. Since 2019 she has been serving as a Florida Ambassador for the American Occupational Therapy Association Political Action Committee.
